Thought you would be the last
Left a strange, unusual past
Guess you never meant to be true
Since you bid me, utter adieu
I was only looking for you
I was just a game for muse
sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry,
for offending you, in the lorry
unrequited pain, real year of terror
shall you return, I look in the mirror
why you are unable to be a friend
know you erred, everything did blend
forgiven you are, even when you said
horrendous things, thought we had wed
more or less, so alone I am instead
murder, or stress, a heart is stone dead

Real tragedy...well expressed
ReplyDeleteVery deep seated sad emotions expressed here but so wonderfully expressed that they tug at the heart.
ReplyDeleteOh yes.. that was a great response.. You took it further and deeper.
ReplyDeleteWell done!

How sad and lonely ~ This is a lovely response to Mary's post too ~
ReplyDelete"unrequited pain and unrequited love" It is more or less similar. Must it happen! It is most trying! Great lines!

loneliness well captivated ...
ReplyDeleteBeing alone is better than being in a painful relationship.
ReplyDeletea heart is stone dead.. strong emotions
ReplyDeleteI'm with Mary. The person in this poem is better off without the person who causes such pain. Great response to the prompt, as well as Mary's poem.
ReplyDeleteHiya, Your story convinces - you've been there, I can tell... With Best Wishes Scott
ReplyDeleteSuch a grim reality and feeling of solitary and loss in this...expressed well.
ReplyDeleteA fine response to Karyn Boye's poem. I like how you conveyed hurt and an utter feeling of loneliness. Although in the end it is probably better not to be in such a relationship, the pain can feel unbearable once we realize we have been used.
ReplyDeletei think you did excellent with capturing the dark, moody feel of boyle!
